The U.S. Small Business Administration has started an audio series on a range of topics to help entrepreneurs to start a new business. They called it SBA Podcasting but upon searching for a podcast feed, I found none.

Nothing on the autodiscovery section, nor on the podcast page.

If you read the opening paragraph on SBA Podcasting page, you know they actually understand what podcasting is:

Podcast feeds deliver audio broadcasts to your desktop. You can listen to these files on your computer or download them to your MP3 player and take them with you. For your convenience, we will be adding additional feeds every month on small business topics.

May be they are using the term feeds in a way that is different form us…

With that said, SBA Podcasting offers listeners introduction to various small business topics such as starting, financing, planning and other related matters.

Currently there are five episodes in MP3, WMA and WMV formats:

• Financing a small business
• Disaster preparedness for business owners
• Selecting a business that fits
• The SBA small business training network
• Is entrepreneurship for you?

There is at least one thing I really like about the “podcasts”. They include not only media files but also transcriptions to all shows/ episodes. Those who prefer to read or skim could do it at the comfort of their own computer or hammock — if they choose to print them.

One thing though, if you can’t provide transcripts, at least give a summary of important topics you cover in your podcast on the page. SBA Podcasting do better than others in this, but they fail to include the information on the podcast page.

Visitors want to be able to read what’s in it for them before downloading a single file.

Podcasters can leverage the content to help them rank in search engine, or at least get found easier using the site search feature. Text content still excels when it comes to search.
