Another tool that allows you to search podcast audio by content is Podzinger. The service tries to index podcasts by using voice recognition technology. For example, if you enter “ipod nano” (with the quotes) and click Zing It, currently it returns 99 results.

Podzinger returns information related to the podcast which has the keywords you entered, including episode, length, owner, description (with the keywords spoken highlighted) and the podcast RSS feed and one click subscription to iTunes and Yahoo! Podcasts, if available.

The service also has the Search series and View series feature.

Don’t expect the speech to text feature to be perfect though. To be clearly recognized by the tool, a podcaster has to speak clearly and the podcast quality should not introduce a lot of noise. Nevertheless, allowing content search in podcast opens up a new way to locate information.
