In optimizing opdcasts, there are ways to optimize for each of the major podcast directories such as iTunes, Singing Fish, Podcast Alley, etc. A large number of these directories, due to their popularity have strong link popularity.

It means if you optimize your podcast in a way that hints Google that the podcast page is highly relevant to what people search, then chances are the page will appear high on Google search engine results pages.

The extra traffic we could get from this tactic alone making it worth considering to include it into the podcast planning process. Don’t forget that because your podcast directory page points to the homepage for the podcast, you also get a boost in search engine ranking organically.

Some of the ways to optimize include tagging, using the right keywords in anchor text, and including keyword-rich information in the content.

I think this is also a great opportunity for branding.

Well, obviously we don’t have full control to the entire content that appear on that page, but at least we can maximize the way it appears so it benefits us best in search engines.
