Fruitcast Podcast Advertising Match Up

Fruitcast offers a new podcast advertising service for podcasters to help them find advertisers or sponsors through a bidding system. Selling short advertising time can be a source of income stream for podcasters.

Podcasters can sign up for free and change the URL of their podcast feed. Those who currently are redirecting their feed to FeedBurner can just change the source URL in their accounts. Advertisers can record their own advertisement or let professional voice-over talent to create the spot.

Each time a listener downloads an episode from your new podcast feed, we’ll check to see if there are any ads that have been assigned to your podcast. If so, we’ll automatically add them (at either the beginning or end, or both) into the MP3 file that your listeners download. The advertiser will be charged a certain amount for each ad that’s run, and a good portion of that amount will be credited to you.

Podcasting has hit the mainstream as many businesses start to adapt the technology as part of their business and marketing strategy. The problem remains on how to directly monetize podcasts. This is especially true for podcasters who create podcast as a product instead of marketing channel.

Free podcasts recorded and published by indie podcasters mainly are not targeted the same way as companies who use the technology to build brand awareness. Sure if their content is good they will have loyal listeners but still most of them don’t have constant supply of products to offer to their listener. Some of them even are doing it for hobby. So, this option will come in handy.

With Fruitcast and previously posted Podcast Pickle podcasters can easily find sponsors without having to go out and search for one themselves. This way they can focus on the content and audience, get paid while doing something they like.

Another interesting new entrant into podcast advertising is Podcaster Ads (http://www.podcasterads.com). The take the “live-read” apprach to advertising, meaning that podcasters read the text of the ad during the broadcast. It requires a bit more work on the podcaster side, but gives them total control over quality and location of the ad. Good luck to all!
