Frank Barnako About Podcast Awards

Frank Barnako raised a problem he saw with Podcast Awards. Out of iTunes top 100 podcasts, only one of them won an award. Based on this, he thought the awards could not represent the podcasting industry about which podcasts are actually performing.

I think Frank is partially right. Everyone of us should agree that iTunes podcast directory is the largest, which delivers more podcasts than any other source.

To put it differently, iTunes top 100 podcasts should be the list of podcast shows which truly have audience.

On the other hand, these awards are not about ranking the most popular podcasts available on planet earth. It is about people’s choice.

In the process, there were 20 volunteers recruited in advance to review the nominations. The awards resulted in well over 1.6 million votes for 110 shows. It is not everything to everyone but at least I would say it should expose some of the less known podcasts to more audience.

Afterall, there are ample of rooms for more awards. Let the People’s Choice Awards the way it is.

So, what’s the next podcast awards?
