Congressman John D. Dingell, who has been in Congress for 50 years, started offering podcasts of his talks. He doesn’t have an iPod or any MP3 device, but he see them all over the place.

“This is one more way to satisfy what seems like a boundless appetite for news from Capitol Hill. We want people to know what is happening here,” Dingel said.

Currently there are two podcasts available for download. The first one is about immigration, while the second one is about health care for all Americans.

What I noticed a good practice that I would recommend to all podcasters is that the podcast come with a transcript, or text version, of the podcast.

Why is this important?

It feeds the search engine robot with something to index. Even if you can’t provide the full text, at least post a summary. Keyword optimized the summary, blog, tag and ping to get the best results.
