Churches Pick up on Podcasting
Posted by Hendry Lee in Podcast News
Churches have picked up podcasting technology to record and publish sermons. They have been able to reach more people that way. It’s a perfect example of the right use of podcasting for public relation too.
“The older I get, sometimes I don’t make it on Sundays. I can’t walk very well or my blood pressure goes up or whatever,” said Elmer, a longtime member of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Berkeley. “It really comes in handy. It’s really delightful to hear the minister’s voice coming off the speakers of my computer.”
If you are on vacation and don’t want to miss a bit of an inspiration for the day, just tune in and listen to it. But still, Steve Jones, professor of communications at the University of Illinois at Chicago said that it is not a substitute for going to church. People go to church to congregate with other people. Podcasting lacks interactivity.
