Blogging and Podcasting Start to Take Off in Africa

Despite technology limitations, especially lack of fast Internet connection, blogging and podcasting start to take off in Africa.

There is a story posted at All Africa about the stressing situation of a guy named Andy Carvin.

Frustrating as this was, it was actually useful in a way, given the fact I’d be talking about publishing tools that usually require fast bandwidth. Would it be possible for me to demonstrate video blogging or podcasting on a connection slower than what I had at home in the 1980s? We’d have to find out.

In countries where fast and stable Internet connection is like a previous germ, using tools that help bloggers blog more effectively is more than necessary. Such tools can be desktop blogging software, which allows people to write blog posts and save before posting to the blog.

Another resourceful tool is RSS reader. Having full text RSS feed downloaded every time bloggers (or end-user consumers) save bandwidth tremendously, especially if people still have to pay per hour of live connection.
