Big Advertisers Sponsor Small Video Bloggers

The video blogging space is starting to attract the attention of mainstream Web advertisers, reports Ryan Naraine for ClickZ News.

The story tells about two prominent video bloggers, Amanda Congdon — former Rocketboom host, and Ze Frank — digital and performance artist about how they have scored separate sponsorship deals with Ford Motor Company and GoDaddy.com, respectively.

Congdon has inked a deal with Ford, Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) and Environmental Countdown to sponsor a “road trip” aimed at raising awareness for environmental issues. The project also includes user-generated content component, which allows anyone to submit videos.

Ford is promoting its new Escape Hybrid, an energy efficient vehicle that touts the value of reduced fuel usage in the sponsorship.

Ze Frank had a sponsor come knocking on his door less than 24 hours after the casually mentioned that it would be nice to have a sponsor for his video show “The show with ZeFrank”.

Ask and you shall receive? For the show as popular as Ze Frank’s, I am not surprised though.

Mainstream web advertisers and marketers begin to target new forms of online media — even if they are small media like bloggers — in search of eyeballs. Not only they own the kind of audience that matches the profile of business demographics the advertisers want, but also very targeted if compared to the general audience of most TV and radio.
